The University of Maine at Machias (UMaine Machias) offers majors and minors in the Divisions of Environmental and Biological Sciences; Professional Studies; and Arts and Letters. In addition to gaining a breadth of knowledge through a core curriculum in the liberal arts (Catalog Page), students will develop the depth of skills necessary to stand out in a competitive workforce or prepare for postgraduate study. UMaine Machias graduates are prepared for professional success and lifelong engagement with the world.
Courses at UMaine Machias are student-oriented, with an average class size of fewer than 20 students; community-engaged, with a focus on partnering with local organizations to prepare students for a career in their field of study; and experiential, emphasizing service-learning projects, field work, and leveraging the resource-rich natural environment of Down East Maine as a “second classroom.”
