The mission of the Intramural Sports program at the University of Maine at Machias is to provide students, faculty, and staff the opportunity to participate in a variety of recreational sports and activities. The activities selected are based upon becoming more involved in the University of Maine at Machias community, staying active, and enjoying safe and fair competition. All participants should achieve a better understanding of teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal achievement.

IM activities vary each year. However, some of our common offerings include flag football, dodgeball, ultimate frisbee, and volleyball. We also offer more low impact activities such as cornhole, bocce ball, frisbee golf, and kan jam. In addition, we have options for those who want to engage in friendly competition that is less strenuous through events such as video game tournaments. Intramurals attempts to offer something for everyone!

You may visit the Residential Education Office at the start of each semester to inquire about what programs and activities will be offered. The office is located on the second floor of Powers Hall. Joining the University
of Maine at Machias Intramural Sports Facebook Page
provides another opportunity to learn what activities will be offered each month and receive IM schedule updates. Students can request to receive schedule updates via their University email if they do not have a Facebook account.

A week before the activity is offered, students have an opportunity to sign up for the activity in Kilburn Commons, the campus dining hall. You may sign up as a team or sign up as an individual and we will assist in placing you on a team!

Please contact the Residential Education Office with suggestions if you would like to request an activity/program that is not currently offered. We’d love to hear your ideas!
