Becoming a Teacher
This curriculum supports students interested in education careers in elementary, secondary, inclusive early childhood, or special education.
This five course, 15-credit pathway is designed to give students a set of introductory-level credits with a focus on the field of education, including an introduction to the history and philosophy of pedagogy, a study of the teaching process, and an exploration of best practices for teaching students with exceptionalities.
Pathway Requirements (listed in suggested course sequence):
- EDU 112: Foundations of Education (3 credits)
- ENG 101: Composition & Presentation I (3 credits)
- ENG 111: Composition & Presentation II (3 credits)
- SED 201: Dimensions in Exceptionality (3 credits)
- EDU 216: The Teaching Process (3 credits)
