Introduction to College Studies
This curriculum provides introductory level college credits infused in liberal arts that are common in the general education curriculum at most colleges.
This five-course, 15-16 credit pathway is designed to give students a set of introductory-level college credits. This curriculum supports students interested in attending college and prepares them with general knowledge and skills infused in liberal arts. All of these courses are currently required in the UMM general education curriculum.
Pathway Requirements
Select five courses from the following categories:
- ENG 101: Composition & Presentation I (3 credits)
- MAT or Scientific Inquiry course (3-4 credits)
- MAT 103M: Algebraic Models in Our World
- MAT 111M: College Algebra
- MAT 113: Introduction to Statistics
- MAT 122: Precalculus
- MAT 126: Calculus
- BIO 117: This is Life!
- CHY 101: General Chemistry*
- ENV 103: Oceanography*
- GIS 102: Our Digital Earth
- ENG 111: Composition & Presentation II (3 credits)
- GEO 101: Introduction to Geography, ANT 101: Cultural Anthropology, or a Foreign Language* (3 credits)
- HTY 115: World History to 1500 or HTY 116: World History 1500 to Present (3 credits)
- Any ART, Music, or Creative Writing course (3 credits)
- ART 106: Art Fundamentals
- ENG 210: Introduction to Creative Writing
- MUS 104: Music in Film- 20th Century and Beyond
- MUS 115: Introduction to Music Listening
- Any other 100 level ENG course (3 credits)
- ENG 114: Topics in World Literature (topics vary)
- ENG 117: Introduction to Literature and Ethics
- ENG 120: Apocalyptic Literature
- PSY 110: Introduction to Psychology or SOC 114: Introduction to Sociology (3 credits)
