How will move-in go? Are parents and other family members allowed to help students move into residence halls? And do those parents and family members need to bring documentation of negative COVID-19 test results?

Detailed information for residential students regarding move in and testing will be sent out in early August, including specific routes families should take to get to their specific residence halls.

Students who are not fully vaccinated will need to either provide proof of a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR test (not antibody or rapid-antigen) administered within the 72 hours prior to arrival or plan to test and quarantine on campus soon after arrival. Vaccinated students must upload their vaccination information into PointNClick by Aug. 20, 2021 in order to avoid testing and quarantining on their move-in day. Vaccinated students who do not timely upload their vaccination information will need to follow the same process for testing and moving in as the unvaccinated students.

All members of the UMaine and UMaine Machias communities, including incoming new employees and undergraduate, transfer and graduate students, should upload their vaccination information via our secure campus portal. You will need your MaineStreet username and password to log on. Detailed instructions can be found online. University community members can verify that their vaccination cards are uploaded successfully on the campus portal site.

Family and friends are welcome to assist with moving in but must wear a mask while in the residence halls. No documentation of testing or vaccination is required of “helpers.” To every extent possible, helpers should minimize their time in the residence halls.
