Update: May 22, 2020

The Murdock Fitness & Aquatics Center will be closed through June 30, 2020 in compliance with guidance and directives from the State of Maine and the Chancellor. It is expected that the Murdock Fitness & Aquatics Center will open later this summer with appropriate protocols in place in accordance with UMS, state and federal health and safety guidance. The opening date will be published as soon as it is known.

Memberships will be automatically extended by the number of days that we remain closed.

We appreciate everyone’s patience and diligence in keeping all of our friends, family, and neighbors healthy.

Update: March 18, 2020

In response to new guidelines issued by the Governor’s Office and advised by Chancellor Malloy, the Murdock Fitness and Aquatics Center will now be closed to all vistors for an indefinite period.

March 13, 2020

To our valued community members:

As you may already know, the University of Maine System has made the unprecedented decision to move all classes to online/distance instruction due to concerns about the COVID-19 pandemic, and we have asked students to vacate residence halls by March 23.

At the Murdock Fitness and Aquatics Center, the health and well-being of our students, staff, faculty and community members is our top priority. With this in mind, we will begin to strengthen the social distancing practices advised by UMS and recommended by the CDC.

We recognize this will cause some inconvenience and we acknowledge that some of our members rely on the fitness center for their health and wellness. But we have decided to put the safety of the community first. In addition, we are going to use this time to do a deep cleaning of the facility.

Due to this decision, we will put your membership on hold, effective Friday, March 13. Upon our reopening, your membership will be extended for the duration of time that we were closed. No payments will be processed while we are closed and day passes will not be available.

Please know that this decision was not made lightly, but we feel we must take appropriate precautions to keep our neighbors healthy and safe. We appreciate your patience and understanding and want to stress that our goal is to reopen our facility to the public as soon as we possibly can.
