Students accepted to UMM should plan to regularly check their university email and MaineStreet portal. This is how you will receive important information from Admissions, Financial Aid, Housing, and other campus offices. You can find steps on how to activate your accounts on the Portal website.
Need help activating your account? Contact IT Support Services at 207.581.2506.
Step 2: Apply for Financial Aid
To be considered for financial aid, you must file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). New: Effective for the 2020-2021 academic year, UMM applicants will use the University of Maine school code, 002053. Your Machias campus affiliation and degree program of choice will not change as a result of using the UMaine school code.
If you have questions about how to apply, please visit our financial aid website or contact the Office of Financial Aid at 207.255.1203.
Enrollment deposits have been reduced from $150 to $50.
To reserve a spot and ensure that you can enroll in classes for Fall 2020, we require accepted students to send a $50 deposit. We accept deposits online via the MaineStreet portal. Watch this video tutorial to learn how to pay online.
More information about how to pay online can be found here.
We also accept checks or money orders made payable to University of Maine at Machias and delivered to:
116 O’Brien Ave
Machias, Maine 04654
Step 4: Apply for housing
Students planning to live on campus should complete their residence hall applications in order to guarantee room placement. Visit the Living on Campus page for more information, or contact the Office of Residential Education at 207.255.1305.
Step 5: Sign up for Navigate
Navigate is a free mobile app that will help you thrive at UMM. On Navigate you can view your class schedule, reminders, resources, and more at the push of a button! The Navigate app can be downloaded from the Apple Store and Google Play; just search for “Navigate Student.”
Step 6: Submit your immunization records
Students should submit copies of their immunization documents to:
Shared Processing Center
PO Box 412
Bangor ME 04402-0412
Fax: (207) 581-5451
Step 7: Submit your final transcripts
Whether you are currently attending high school, or transferring to UMM from another college, make sure that you’ve submitted a final copy of your academic transcript to the Admissions Office.
Step 8: Sign your Financial Responsibility Statement in MaineStreet
Login to your MaineStreet Student Portal and click the “Financial Terms and Conditions” link in the “To-Do List” box. All students must electronically sign the financial responsibility statement to remove a hold on their account.
Check your To-Do List in MaineStreet periodically after signing this statement — if there are any other holds on your account, you will be notified here.
Step 9: Make plans to attend Fall Welcome and Orientation
More info about Fall Welcome is TBA; check your student email account for updates.
Step 10: Verify your health insurance coverage
All students enrolled in 9 credits or more at UMM are required to maintain adequate health insurance. Eligible students will be billed an annual health insurance fee at the beginning of the fall semester.
If you already have adequate health insurance and wish to remain on your existing plan, you must complete an online waiver process to opt out of the plan. Access the waiver here. You will need to log in to complete the waiver and enter “University of Maine System” as your school.
If you have questions about qualifying coverage, billing or the waiver process, contact the Business Office at 207.255.1312.
Have you already been accepted as a student at the University of Maine at Machias? Congratulations! We can’t wait to meet you.
If you’ve received notification of your acceptance, it’s important that you complete the steps listed here to guarantee your enrollment in the coming semester.
