Students accepted to UMM should plan to regularly check their university email and MaineStreet portal. This is how you will receive important information from Admissions, Financial Aid, Housing, and other campus offices. You can find steps on how to activate your accounts on the Portal website.
Need help activating your account? Contact IT Support Services at 207.581.2506.
Step 2: Apply for Financial Aid
To be considered for financial aid, you must file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). UMM applicants will use the University of Maine school code, 002053. Your Machias campus affiliation and degree program of choice will not change as a result of using the UMaine school code.
If you have questions about how to apply, please visit our financial aid website or contact the Office of Financial Aid at 207.255.1203.
Step 3: Confirm your enrollment with a deposit
Enrollment deposits are $50.
To reserve a spot and ensure that you can enroll in classes, we require accepted students to send a $50 deposit. There are several ways to confirm:
- Confirm online: We accept deposits online via the MaineStreet portal. Watch this video tutorial to learn how to pay online.
More information about general billing questions: how to pay online can be found here.
- Confirm by mail: We accept checks or money orders made payable to University of Maine at Machias and delivered to:
116 O’Brien Ave
Machias, Maine 04654
- Confirm by phone: Call the UMaine Machias Office of Admissions at 207-255-1318 to pay by phone using a credit card or to discuss concerns about paying your confirmation deposit.
Step 4: Apply for housing (if applicable)
Students planning to live on campus should complete their residence hall applications in order to guarantee room placement. Visit the Living on Campus page for more information, or contact the Office of Residential Education at 207.255.1320.
Step 5: Sign up for Navigate
Navigate is a free mobile app that will help you thrive at UMM. On Navigate you can view your class schedule, reminders, resources, and more at the push of a button! The Navigate app can be downloaded from the Apple Store and Google Play; just search for “Navigate Student.”
Step 6: Submit your immunization and Covid records
There are two steps to submitting state required immunizations and Covid paperwork.
Maine state required immunizations are two MMR vaccinations and a Tdap in the last 10 years.
Students should submit copies of their state required immunization documents to:
Shared Processing Center
PO Box 412
Bangor ME 04402-0412
Fax: (207) 581-5451
For more information see our Immunization Page
Covid proof of immunization needs to be uploaded to the student’s Point N Click website. Follow the directions on the website for uploading pictures. You must be logged in to your portal to complete this step.
Step 7: Submit your final transcripts
Whether you are currently attending high school, or transferring to UMM from another college, make sure that you’ve submitted a final copy of your academic transcript to the Admissions Office.
Step 8: Sign your Financial Responsibility Statement in MaineStreet
Login to your MaineStreet Student Portal and click the “Financial Terms and Conditions” link in the “To-Do List” box. All students must electronically sign the financial responsibility statement to remove a hold on their account.
Check your To-Do List in MaineStreet periodically after signing this statement — if there are any other holds on your account, you will be notified here.
