Have you already been accepted as a student at the University of Maine at Machias? Congratulations! We can’t wait to meet you.

If you’ve received notification of your acceptance, it’s important that you complete the following steps to guarantee your enrollment in the coming semester.

Checklist for Fall 2020

NOW: Activate your MaineStreet account

Students accepted to UMM should plan to regularly check their university email and MaineStreet portal. This is how you will receive important information from Admissions, Financial Aid, Housing, and other campus offices. You can find steps on how to activate your accounts on the Portal website.

Need help activating your account? Contact IT Support Services at 207.581.2506.

ASAP: Apply for financial aid

To be considered for financial aid, you must file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Use UMM school code 002055 on your application. The priority deadline for Fall 2020 is March 1.

If you have questions about how to apply, please visit our financial aid website or contact the Office of Financial Aid at 207.255.1223.

MAY 1: Confirm your enrollment with a deposit

To reserve a spot and ensure that you can enroll in classes for Fall 2020, we require accepted students to send a $150 deposit by May 1. We accept deposits online via the MaineStreet portal, or checks or money orders made payable to University of Maine at Machias and delivered to:

Admissions Office
116 O’Brien Ave
Machias, Maine 04654

MAY 15: Apply for housing

Students planning to live on campus should complete their residence hall applications in order to guarantee room placement. Visit the Living on Campus page for more information, or contact the Office of Residential Education at 207.255.1305.

JULY 1: Submit your immunization records

Students should mail or fax copies of their immunization documents to:

Shared Processing Center
PO Box 412
Bangor ME 04402-0412
Fax: (207) 581-5451

Submit your final transcripts

Whether you are currently attending high school, or transferring to UMM from another college, make sure that you’ve submitted a final copy of your academic transcript to the Admissions Office.

Sign your Financial Responsibility Statement in MaineStreet

Login to your MaineStreet Student Portal and click the “Financial Responsibility Statement” link in the “To-Do List” box. All students must electronically sign the financial responsibility statement to remove a hold on their account.

Check your To-Do List in MaineStreet periodically after signing this statement — if there are any other holds on your account, you will be notified here.

BEFORE October 1: Verify your health insurance coverage

All students enrolled in 9 credits or more at UMM are required to maintain adequate health insurance. Eligible students will be billed an annual health insurance fee at the beginning of the fall semester.

If you already have adequate health insurance and wish to remain on your existing plan, you must complete an online waiver process to opt out of the plan before October 1. Access the waiver here.

If you have questions about qualifying coverage, billing or the waiver process, contact the Business Office at 207.255.1312 or contact AHP Customer Support at 1.855.443.8389.
