Please note that any change in residency will result in the adjustment of financial aid, including scholarships. This includes any waiver program that results in non-resident students being charged the resident tuition rate, or a change between out-of-state and NEBHE status.

The Acadia and Sunrise NEBHE scholarships are offered in addition to the tuition break NEBHE students receive thought the New England Board of Higher Education’s (NEBHE) Regional Student Program (RSP).

Muriel L. and Kermit Kraus Memorial Marine Biology Scholarship
Each year UMaine Machias will select two or more new, first-year or transfer students, with preference given to out-of-state students. Students who wish to be considered for this competitive scholarship must submit an essay explaining why they wish to study Marine Biology at UMaine Machias. Students will be selected based on their high School record, SAT or ACT or equivalent test scores, and the quality of their essay. Students receiving this award will receive $1,000 per year in addition to any other scholarships for which they qualify. The successful candidate will receive this award for all four years of their degree as long as they maintain a 3.0 GPA or higher in the Marine Biology program and a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
The completed application must be submitted by March 1, and successful candidates will be notified of this award by March 20th.

International Student Scholarship
As part of the normal admissions review process, all admitted international students will be considered for the University of Maine at Machias Provost Scholarship of $10,000 which is renewable annually. Scholarship eligibility will be considered based on academic preparation and to ensure geographic diversity. Funds are limited, so applications are encouraged early in the process.
