John Waldman to speak at annual Roque Island Lecture on Environmental Conservation
Aquatic conservation biologist John Waldman will present the sixth annual Roque Island Lecture on Environmental Conservation on Thursday, March 28 at the University of Maine at Machias.
The lecture, “Atlantic Rivers: Migratory Fish, Dams, Energy Production and Thoreau,” will be held at 5 p.m. in the UMM Science Building, Room 102. It is free and open to the public. It is sponsored by the Eastern Maine Conservation Initiative and UMM.
Waldman is a professor of biology, specializing in fishes, at Queens College, CUNY. He has written about 100 scientific articles and several popular books, including “Heartbeats in the Muck: the History, Sea Life, and Environment of New York Harbor,” which won the 2000 New York City Book Award for Natural History, presented by the New York Society Library.
