Johnson’s GIS project profiled in UMaine Research news
In “Mapping Out a More Flood Resilient Future“, The University of Maine Research newsletter profiles Tora Johnson, chair of the Division of Environmental and Biological Sciences at UMM and director of the GIS Service Center, whose study on flood resilience in Machias has helped the town apply for a FEMA grant in support of flood prevention efforts. “Her research incorporates community engagement,” the article notes, “which also is a cornerstone of her students’ classroom experience.”
