Maine Writer Series Hosts Lubec Author Penny Guisinger
MACHIAS, Maine – The University of Maine at Machias will be hosting Lubec author Penny Guisinger at 4 p.m. Friday, April 7, at the Merrill Library on campus. This is the fourth literary reading this year as part of The Maine Writer’s Series.
Guisinger’s book, Postcards from Here, published by Vine Leaves Press, is a snapshot of a harsh yet beautiful community in the form of micro-essays. The book takes the realities of rural New England lifestyle with an insight on politics of all things love, marriage, children, porcupines, travels and the hazards of living.
In 2015, one of Guisinger’s essays was named a notable in Best American Essays and was nominated for a Pushcart Prize. Her work has appeared in Fourth Genre, River Teeth Journal, Solstice Literary Magazine, and multiple anthologies. She is an Assistant Editor at Brevity Magazine and a graduate of the Stonecoast MFA Program at the University of Southern Maine. She holds an MA in Public Policy from the Muskie School of Public Service, founded Inkslinger Writing Services and is a writing coach, mentor, teacher and editor.
