Student at letterpress

Book Arts Studio

The Book Arts Studio houses traditional letterpress equipment, hand papermaking facilities and new technologies of book production. In addition to making their own books, UMaine Machias students work with our faculty editing original manuscripts and designing, printing, and binding books that are sold through various distributors. All of the students who work on those books are listed as part of the production team. Students have used their copies as strong portfolio components when they apply for jobs after graduation.
