UMM Hosting Gubernatorial Debates

In November 2018, Maine will elect its next governor. As of now, eleven candidates are under consideration for the primaries. Seven are democrats, and four are republicans. As part of its public service mission, the University of Maine at Machias is hosting two debates during which candidates from both parties will makhinge statements about their respective platforms and take questions from the audience. The debate for democratic candidates will be on Thursday, April 19 at 6 p.m., and that for republican candidates will be on Thursday, April 26 also at 6 p.m. Both events will take place in room 102 of the science building.

UMM Professor Emeritus Ron Mosley will moderate, and the events will be live-streamed and recorded. The link for online viewing will be available on UMM’s website before the start of the event. Candidates are in the process of confirming, so a complete list of participants is currently being finalized.

Community members and students will have the opportunity to register as voters, and campaign materials will be available from all candidates.
