Traffic Pattern on Campus to Switch to One-Way
The traffic pattern at the University of Maine at Machias will be changing from two-way to one-way on its three major roads to allow for an additional 66 parking spots on campus, including additional handicapped parking. If the weather permits, the painting of the new parking spaces will take place by October 31. There will be signs on campus alerting drivers to the new pattern.
The affected roads that will become one-way are:
University Way – the road which runs in front of the Science Building, Merrill Library and Torrey Hall.
Clipper Way – the road between the mall and the pond.
Downeast Drive – the road in front of Sennett and alongside the O’Brien House.
Visitors and others coming to campus are urged to drive with care as the new pattern is put into effect.
