Countdown to 2026 Commencement

Sunday, May 10, 2026 at 11 a.m.

Doors open at 10:00 am

* Seating is first come, first served.

Honors are awarded based on the following:

Associate Degrees, a cumulative GPA of 3.0 and above

Baccalaureate Degrees are conferred with Latin honors (gold cords), at commencement, for the following attainments of rank

  • summa cum laude: 3.70 GPA
  • magna cum laude: 3.50 GPA
  • cum laude: 3.30 GPA

* The University bases the GPA only on the student’s work at the University of Maine at Machias.

  • Ordering will end on April 1, 2026. Please order as soon as possible to ensure you receive your order in time.
  • Orders will be mailed to the shipping address you provide.
  • Cap, gown, & tassel colors:
    • Associates (2-year) Degrees: cap and gown is black, tassel is navy.
    • Bachelors (4-year) Degrees:  cap and gown is black, tassel is black.
    • Certificates (Family Futures, Early College, etc.):  cap and gown is black, tassel is white.
