Nutcracker ballet stages at University of Maine at Machias
The Robinson Ballet Company will stage the 31st annual production of The Nutcracker at the University of Maine at Machias on Saturday, November 17.
Performances of the Tchaikovsky holiday classic at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. in the university’s Performing Arts Center are made possible in part with generous support from Kelco Industries in Milbridge. Ticket prices are $12; $7 for ages 12–18, and 60 and older; $5 for children under 12.
The 3 p.m. matinee is primarily reserved for schools and other youth groups. School and group reservations can be made Oct. 29–Nov. 2 by calling 255-1312. Beginning on Nov. 5, ticket for the general public can be purchased by calling 255-1409.
“Our company and our family are very Christmas-focused,” says Dugald Kell Jr. of Kelco Industries. “Kelco Industries, started by my father, Doug Kell, in 1955, serves local wreath makers with the supplies they need to bring the Christmas spirit to people all over the United States.”
Dugald Kell was a member of the university’s Board of Visitors, serving three years as chair. He says, “Supporting the Robinson Ballet’s annual production of the Nutcracker at UMM makes this artistic performance of a beloved Christmas ballet accessible for people in our area to enjoy,”
