Alexander Nolan gallery show to be displayed at UMaine Machias
MACHIAS, Maine — The University of Maine at Machias will open its fall gallery show, Alexander Nolan – Paintings, on Wednesday, Oct. 16 from 4-6 p.m. at the Powers Hall Art Gallery. The show and opening was organized by the Museum and Gallery Management course under the guidance of Bernie Vinzani, gallery director and professor of art. The show will be on exhibit until the end of the semester.
This show will display a variety of Nolan’s work from the past year. Nick Crean, founder of the online studio Crean and Company, said “The loose brushwork of Nolan’s imagery is direct and fresh. He is recording his imaginations without hesitation, like any good writer would, and his bold use of colour supports the works’ dreamlike qualities as it sets the mood, be it playful or suspect”
Nolan was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1980. After receiving his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 2003, he went on to receive his Master of Fine Arts from New York Studio School in 2007. His work has been shown in over ten different exhibitions worldwide, from Lubec, Maine to London and Luxembourg.. He currently lives and works in Lubec.
