UMM to host ‘Recovery Boys’ film screening and discussion

The University of Maine at Machias will host a free public screening of a documentary film about recovery from opioid addiction on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 5:30–8 p.m., in Room 102 of the Science Building. The film screening, sponsored by Points North Institute in partnership with Healthy Acadia, Community Caring Collaborative, Downeast Recovery Support Center and the State of Maine, will be followed by a community forum featuring individuals in recovery, treatment providers, employers and local agencies.

“Recovery Boys” (89m, 2018), from Academy Award nominated director Elaine McMillion Sheldon, follows the stories of four men navigating the recovery process after struggling with opioid addiction. The film includes some content that is appropriate for mature audiences.
