Two performances of “The Nutcracker” will be presented by the Robinson Ballet at the University of Maine at Machias on Saturday, Nov. 16.

A 3 p.m. matinee, reserved primarily for school and youth groups, will be followed by a 7 p.m. performance. Both are in the Performing Arts Center.

Tickets are $12 for adults, $5 for children under 12, and $7 for seniors (60+) and youth ages 12–18. School groups may reserve tickets Oct. 28–Nov. 1; general admission tickets will be available starting Nov. 4.

For reservations or more information, or to request a reasonable accommodation, contact Barbie Holmes in the UMM Business Office, 207.255.1409.

Peter Tchaikovsky, one of the world’s best-known symphonic composers, wrote the “Nutcracker Suite” in 1892, near the end of his life. The family friendly tale of Christmas dreams come to life has become a beloved holiday classic and one of the most popular ballets of all time.

The Bangor-based Robinson Ballet first brought “The Nutcracker” to UMM in 1984 and has since made a tradition of returning during the holiday season.

This year’s performance is made possible by the generous support of long-time sponsor Kelco Industries in Milbridge, R.H. Foster Co. and Machias Savings Bank.
