UMM to Induct New Hall of Fame Athletes

Three alumni will be inducted into the University of Maine at Machias Athletic Hall of Fame on September 22, 2018. The inductees are David Carroll ‘63, John Kohtala ‘88 and Sara Moore ‘05.

Carroll was a basketball player known for his selflessness as well as his rebounding and sure touch around the rim. Kohtala also played basketball for UMM, and returned after graduation to coach both basketball and soccer. Under his coaching, the men’s basketball team travelled to the National Tournament for the first time in UMM history. A basketball and soccer player, Moore was recognized multiple times with All Conference and Player of the Week awards.

The induction ceremony will take place in the Reynolds Center at 5 p.m. on September 22 between the women’s and men’s alumni games, which are scheduled for 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.
