UMM Well Represented at State Recreation Conference

A group of University of Maine at Machias students were presenters last week at this year’s Maine Recreation and Park Association Annual Conference in Portland. The Environmental Recreation and Tourism students’ presentation, Expanding Your Game Bank, was very well received by participants at the conference, according to UMM Professor Karen Beeftink. “82 percent of participants rated the session as either above average or excellent,” she said. Beeftink said some of the comments from the MRPA follow-up survey were:
– Students did an excellent job putting this session together.
– These UMM students took their preparation and execution very seriously while delivering an outstanding opportunity for learning and fun.
– Students did an awesome job with this session! Let’s have them come to each conference and present activities.
– Think the students did a great job and maybe something to have them facilitate after dinner or sometime for members as an event for all.
– The students did a wonderful job. I will use the games presented in the session at our summer camp.
– Good diversity of games, including many that I have not played before. Kept the session moving.
