Spots Remain on UMM Trip to Spain

A limited number of spots are still available on the University of Maine at Machias ten-day trip to Spain in Spring 2017. The trip, open to both students and community members, will leave from Bangor on March 25, 2017, and return on April 3, 2017.

Informational sessions about the trip are scheduled for November 11 at 5:00 PM and November 14 at 6:00 PM. Both sessions will be held on the UMM campus in Torrey 226.

This tour will visit several regions in Spain, including Barcelona, the capital city of Madrid, Seville, and the beaches of Costa del Sol. While in Spain, travelers will visit famous Spanish landmarks, such as the Alhambra palace and Gaudí’s Sagrada Família church. Additionally, participants will have the option to take a ferry across the Strait of Gibraltar for a day trip to

Morocco.

Prices start at $3,020. The tour fee includes round-trip airfare, ground transportation, hotel accommodations, breakfast and dinner daily, a full-time tour director, and any entrance fee for local attractions. Payment plans are available. The price will increase on December 1, so organizers encourage anyone interested in the trip to register as soon as possible to lock in the

lowest price. There is an additional $100 discount available to individuals who have traveled on an Explorica trip before.

To prepare for the trip, all travelers will have the option to meet as a group and discuss travel plans, cultural expectations, and other essentials. Furthermore, with additional work and planning, UMM students have the option to earn college credit. All travelers will need to have a passport valid through October 2017.
