Alumni Spotlight: Said Baaghil, ‘90

This week’s Alumni Spotlight shines on Said Aghil Baaghil of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. He is a 1990 UMM graduate with a degree in Business Administration and Marketing. He is currently a branding and marketing advisor in Saudi Arabia.

Tell us a little bit about what you are doing now:

Said Baaghil is a self-employed branding and marketing advisor whose out of the box ideas ignite companies to rethink how to reach their target audience and build sustainable brands.   His expertise, however, is not for the faint-hearted.  With over 25 years of experience, he has successfully evolved and helped launch some of the most profitable and sustainable brands. He is the author of three books including “The Power of Belonging” and a co-author to several others.

How did UMM help you become a successful entrepreneur?

The community, the service projects with my fraternity Psi Delta and the challenges I faced and overcome while them.  A lot of the success I have today is because of the UMM experiences.

Do you have any advice for current students at UMM?

Don’t think of UMM as small campus, think of how far you want to go so UMM can help you. Be leaders, not followers.

How did your time at UMM prepare you for what you are doing now?

The different experiences I gained on campus were invaluable. For example,  I was the founder of the International Club along with Dr. Sloan, the advisor.

How has UMM made a positive impact on your life?

The friends I met while at UMM are still my friends today.  The UMM experience taught me to be independent and to realize my dreams.
