Other opportunities for Serving and Leading Sunrise Senior College as a volunteer

Our Curriculum Committee selects courses of interest to SSC members, recruits volunteer instructors, reviews courses proposals for inclusion in the curriculum, and provides training for instructors and their hosts in using Information technology for both in-person and online classes via Zoom. The Curriculum Committee also works to provide textbooks/supplies and submit course information for publication on our website.  If you love to learn and like searching for subjects to explore, you’re the kind of person we need.  Click here and send us your name and email and we’ll be in touch.

The Marketing and Market Research Committee is looking for members to help with understanding the audience for Sunrise Senior College, both in Washington County and statewide via the Maine Senior College Network. SSC’s Publicity and Public Relations Committee is always looking for people with new ideas and anyone who enjoys writing and meeting people.  The Committee prepares news releases for Washington County media outlets about upcoming SSC courses and events.  The Committee also monitors the SSC telephone and email accounts for incoming messages.

Sunrise Senior College is a member-run, all volunteer organization. Volunteers find instructors, focusing on a wide spectrum of interests. Instructors volunteer their time to share their passion and special interests. Volunteers schedule classes to meet the needs of instructors and students, and volunteers do the work to publish course information on SSC’s website, and to publicize the information to media outlets in Washington County and statewide through the Maine Senior College Network. Little things, big things, every aspect of making SSC a success is done by our volunteers.

Some of the volunteer positions require a long-term commitment, such as serving on the board of directors, others only ask one part of one day a year! There is an opportunity to help support this incredible organization on every level of commitment.

As a volunteer, you can make new friends and collegial relationships and be part of an exciting program.

If you are willing to help on any level, please contact us. We’ll be happy to find a place that is just your fit!
