The Registrar’s Office strongly encourage the review of class rosters in MaineStreet each semester after the end of the add\/drop period in order to verify student enrollment. If a student does not appear on the roster of a class he or she is attending, or does appear on the roster but is not attending the class, please direct him or her to the department\/school or dean\u2019s office to resolve the discrepancy.<\/p>\n

Class roster accuracy is a basic step in ensuring the safety of the campus and our students. Any concerns for a student should be directed to the Office of Student Life at 255-1305.
\nInstructions on accessing class rosters in the Faculty Center are provided below.<\/p>\n

\u00a0Log on to MaineStreet <\/a>using your UMSID <\/a>and Password.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n

Navigate to the Faculty Center Tile on the Academic Homepage:<\/p>\n

\"Academic<\/p>\n

\n

\u00a0Viewing your Class Roster(s)<\/strong><\/p>\n

a) Verify the term for which the class rosters are displaying and change if necessary using the \u201cchange term\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0and\/or institution<\/strong>\u201d button.<\/p>\n

b) Select the \u201cclass roster<\/strong>\u201d button next to the corresponding class displayed in the \u201cMy Teaching Schedule<\/strong>\u201d List.<\/p>\n

About the <\/strong>Class Roster Details<\/strong><\/p>\n

The MaineStreet Class Roster provides a variety of information pertaining to the students associated with a class.\u00a0 The Enrollment Status<\/strong> drop down list offers options for displaying the list of students:\u00a0 All<\/strong>, Dropped<\/strong>, Enrolled<\/strong>, or Waiting<\/strong>.\u00a0 The status of Enrolled<\/strong> is the default setting meaning when the class roster first displays, it\u2019s showing only those with an enrolled status.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Students that have been dropped will display when the Dropped<\/strong> status is selected.\u00a0 Students on the Wait List will display when the status of Waiting<\/strong> is selected, and the All<\/strong> option shows everyone regardless of enrollment status.<\/p>\n

\"Enrollment<\/p>\n

Other columns containing helpful information are the Add Date<\/strong>, Drop Date<\/strong> and Status Notes<\/strong> columns.\u00a0 The Add <\/strong>indicates the date on which the student was enrolled in the class.\u00a0 This may be useful for monitoring new enrollments after the start of the semester.\u00a0 The Drop Date<\/strong> column will show the date on which a student dropped or withdrew from the class.<\/p>\n

\"Dropped<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Values that display in the Grade Basis<\/strong> column reflect the grading option for the student.\u00a0\u00a0 The most commonly seen Grade Bases are:\u00a0 Graded<\/strong> for the letter grade (A-F) option; P\/NP<\/strong> indicates the Pass\/Fail grading option; Audit<\/strong> is shown for students who opted to audit the class.<\/p>\n

\"All<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Units<\/strong> column specify the number of credits for which the student is enrolled. (It\u2019s most important to review this when the class is offered for variable credit.)\u00a0 The Program and Plan<\/strong> column indicates each student\u2019s college and major.\u00a0 The Level<\/strong> column provides the student\u2019s current class level based on overall earned credit hours.<\/p>\n

The Contact Information tab reveals the preferred phone number and email address for each student.<\/p>\n

\u00a0Saving the Class Roster
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

a)\u00a0 \u00a0Select the Download link<\/b> at the top of the roster as shown below. (Note:\u00a0 If your browser\u2019s Pop-up Blocker prevents the download, follow the browser\u2019s instructions presented to you for how to allow the download to continue.)<\/p>\n

b)\u00a0 \u00a0When the File Download<\/b> box appears, select \u201cOpen. \u201c<\/p>\n

c)\u00a0 \u00a0 The roster will open to an Excel spreadsheet.\u00a0 Change the column width to automatically fit the contents: To quickly autofit all columns on the worksheet, click the Select All button, and then double-click any boundary between two column headings.<\/p>\n

d)\u00a0 \u00a0Save the spreadsheet.<\/p>\n

\n

Sending Notifications to Students from the Class Roster
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

a) To notify all students on the roster, scroll to the bottom of the Class Roster and select the \u201cnotify all students<\/strong>\u201d\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 button<\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0OR<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

To notify a selected set of students, use the box provided in the \u201cNotify<\/strong>\u201d column of the Class Roster to indicate\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0which students are to receive the message.\u00a0 Then select the \u201cnotify selected students<\/strong>\u201d button at the bottom of\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0the Class Roster.<\/p>\n

\"Notify<\/p>\n

b) The \u201cSend Notification<\/strong>\u201d page (see page 4) will display with the \u201cTo<\/strong>\u201d field pre-populated with your email address\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 and \u201cBCC<\/strong>\u201d field pre-populated with the email addresses of the students selected.<\/p>\n

c) The \u201cSubject<\/strong>\u201d field may be changed if desired.<\/p>\n

d) Enter the text of the message to be sent in the \u201cMessage Text<\/strong>\u201d field. \u00a0(Tip:\u00a0 Use the spellcheck icon\u00a0 to check the\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 spelling of the text.)<\/p>\n

e) Send the message by selecting the \u201cSend Notification<\/strong>\u201d button.<\/p>\n
