{"id":424,"date":"2020-07-31T11:14:12","date_gmt":"2020-07-31T15:14:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/machias.edu\/registrar\/?page_id=424"},"modified":"2020-09-22T14:17:16","modified_gmt":"2020-09-22T18:17:16","slug":"adding-dropping-classes","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/machias.edu\/registrar\/homepage\/academics\/adding-dropping-classes\/","title":{"rendered":"Course Add\/Drop"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul><li><a href=\"#Adding Classes\"><span>Adding Classes<\/span><\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"#Dropping Classes\"><span>Dropping Classes<\/span><\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"#Students who Stop Attending\"><span>Students who Stop Attending<\/span><\/a><\/li><\/ul><hr><a id=\"Adding Classes\" style=\"display:block; position:relative; top:-100px; visibility: hidden;\"><\/a><h2>Adding Classes<\/h2><\/p>\n<p><ul><li><a href=\"#Add Procedures\"><span>Add Procedures<\/span><\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"#Add Deadline - End of the First Full Week of the Semester\"><span>Add Deadline - End of the First Full Week of the Semester<\/span><\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"#Late Course Add\"><span>Late Course Add<\/span><\/a><\/li><\/ul><hr style=\"border: dashed .5px;\"><a id=\"Add Procedures\" style=\"display:block; position:relative; top:-100px; visibility: hidden;\"\"><\/a><h3>Add Procedures<\/h3><\/p>\n<p>Students can use\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/mainestreet.maine.edu\">MaineStreet<\/a> to add\/drop courses to their semester schedules.\u00a0 Students can see Drop and Withdrawal deadlines for any class by clicking on the Calendar icons on their MaineStreet Class Schedule.\u00a0 \u00a0Students sign into <a href=\"http:\/\/mainestreet.maine.edu\">MaineStreet<\/a> using\u00a0their maine.edu email login and password.\u00a0 Directions for placing oneself on a Wait List can be found on the tab above.<\/p>\n<p>Students who choose to add and drop courses using the paper-based system must obtain the signature of their advisors on an add-drop form which can be obtained from and must be returned to the Student Services Center or the Registrar&#8217;s Office by the indicated dates.<\/p>\n<p><hr style=\"border: dashed .5px;\"><a id=\"Add Deadline - End of the First Full Week of the Semester\" style=\"display:block; position:relative; top:-100px; visibility: hidden;\"\"><\/a><h3>Add Deadline - End of the First Full Week of the Semester<\/h3><\/p>\n<p>No student may add a course after the start of the fourth class hour of that class without the written approval of the instructor and their advisor.\u00a0 For courses which do not run the full length of the semester, the add deadline is the 7% point of the course (equivalent to first week of a normal semester).<\/p>\n<p><hr style=\"border: dashed .5px;\"><a id=\"Late Course Add\" style=\"display:block; position:relative; top:-100px; visibility: hidden;\"\"><\/a><h3>Late Course Add<\/h3><\/p>\n<p>Students wishing to add a semester-long course after the end of the third week must complete a <a href=\"https:\/\/machias.edu\/academics\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/16\/2017\/07\/Late-Course-Add-Form.pdf\">Late Course Add Form<\/a> and obtain the written approval of the instructor, advisor and the Vice President for Academic Affairs. Students must indicate the compelling reasons for adding a course this long after the add deadline. The student and the instructor must also indicate on the form the manner in which the student will make up the work missed at the beginning of the semester.<\/p>\n<p>A Late Course Add Form must also be used by any student wishing to add a course which meets during a session shorter than a full term, if 20% of the session has already passed.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><hr><a id=\"Dropping Classes\" style=\"display:block; position:relative; top:-100px; visibility: hidden;\"><\/a><h2>Dropping Classes<\/h2><\/p>\n<p><ul><li><a href=\"#Drop Procedures\"><span>Drop Procedures<\/span><\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"#Drop Deadline - February 3rd\"><span>Drop Deadline - February 3rd<\/span><\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"#When the Drop Deadline has passed\"><span>When the Drop Deadline has passed<\/span><\/a><\/li><\/ul><hr style=\"border: dashed .5px;\"><a id=\"Drop Procedures\" style=\"display:block; position:relative; top:-100px; visibility: hidden;\"\"><\/a><h3>Drop Procedures<\/h3><\/p>\n<p>Students can use\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/mainestreet.maine.edu\">MaineStreet<\/a> to drop classes from their Spring 2020 schedules through February 3rd.<\/p>\n<p>Sign into <a href=\"http:\/\/mainestreet.maine.edu\">MaineStreet<\/a> using your maine.edu login and password.\u00a0 Navigate to your <em>Student Center<\/em> and click on the <em>Enroll<\/em> link.<\/p>\n<p>Students can also see Drop and Withdrawal deadlines for any class by clicking on the Calendar icons on their MaineStreet Class Schedule.<\/p>\n<p><hr style=\"border: dashed .5px;\"><a id=\"Drop Deadline - February 3rd\" style=\"display:block; position:relative; top:-100px; visibility: hidden;\"\"><\/a><h3>Drop Deadline - February 3rd<\/h3><\/p>\n<p>Students who are not withdrawing from school completely may reduce their course load without any financial penalty through the first two weeks of the semester (last date to drop a course: February).<\/p>\n<p>For classes which do not run the full length of the semester, the drop deadline is the 14% point of the course (equivalent to the first two weeks of a normal semester).\u00a0 Dropping a course during this period will leave no record of course registration on the student&#8217;s record.<\/p>\n<p><hr style=\"border: dashed .5px;\"><a id=\"When the Drop Deadline has passed\" style=\"display:block; position:relative; top:-100px; visibility: hidden;\"\"><\/a><h3>When the Drop Deadline has passed<\/h3><\/p>\n<p>After the drop period has passed, students may withdraw from a course using the Course Withdrawal form.
