{"id":1194,"date":"2020-09-29T13:49:13","date_gmt":"2020-09-29T17:49:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/machias.edu\/registrar\/?page_id=1194"},"modified":"2020-12-02T08:09:25","modified_gmt":"2020-12-02T13:09:25","slug":"graduation","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/machias.edu\/registrar\/graduation\/","title":{"rendered":"Graduation"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li><a href=\"#Answer3\">General Information<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#Answer5\">Timeline<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#Answer1\">Application Process<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#Answer4\">Viewing\/Changing Application<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/machias.edu\/academics\/commencement\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Commencement Information<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/catalog.umaine.edu\/content.php?catoid=84&amp;navoid=3363\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Degree\/Graduation Requirements<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#Answer2\">Diploma Replacement<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>General Information:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Degree-seeking students:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>All students must apply for completion whether or not they opt to attend the Commencement ceremony.<\/li>\n<li>The Application for Completion may be submitted up to one year prior to the actual term of graduation.<\/li>\n<li>Applications must be received on or before the February 1st deadline for inclusion in the Commencement Program.<\/li>\n<li>When providing a diploma\/certificate mailing address, keep in mind that diploma\/certificates are mailed approximately two months after the date of graduation.<\/li>\n<li>Any student who will graduate during the current year may attend the Commencement Ceremony.\u00a0 Students graduating in August or December should be sure to apply for the correct graduation date AND indicate &#8220;Yes I will attend Commencement&#8221; on the Application for Completion.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Certificate students:<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Students completing certificates must apply for completion.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a name=\"Answer5\"><\/a><br \/>\nEach student is responsible for knowing and following the policies governing his or her course of study and for fulfilling all academic requirements for the degree sought.\u00a0 Students should direct questions about academic policies and degree requirements to their academic advisor or to their academic dean or program coordinator.\u00a0 Refer to the <a href=\"http:\/\/catalog.umaine.edu\/index.php?catoid=84\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>Undergraduate Catalog<\/em><\/a> for Degree\/Graduation requirements.\u00a0 Each college is responsible for verifying that students have completed their degree requirements.\u00a0 This process occurs within 60 days of the end of the term.<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"5\"><\/a><a><strong>Timeline:<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>There are three graduations per year with one May commencement ceremony. A student who may be earning a double degree will need to submit the application for both programs. A replacement diploma may be issued for a deceased student with valid documentation of the student\u2019s death (a copy of the obituary, death certificate, or executor of will.)
