Part of an ongoing effort in the community to preserve the endangered indigenous language, this introductory course will be taught by Newell Lewey, a community planner for the Passamaquoddy Tribe at Pleasant Point and a current graduate student in linguistics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.<\/p>\n<p>Classes will be held on campus, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2-3:20 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>For more information, or to register for this and other classes, call 255-1318 or contact the regristation office via email, ummreg@maine.edu.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The University of Maine at Machias will offer a new course on Passamaquoddy language and culture for its spring semester, beginning January 22.
