MACHIAS, Maine \u2014 Kameron Landry, a senior at The University of Maine at Machias, will open his undergraduate art exhibition, \u201cPRODUCE 111,\u201d in the Powers Hall art gallery on April 16 at 6 p.m.<\/span><\/p>\n

A <\/span>multidisciplinary artist within th<\/span>e Creative Arts and Professional Studies Division,<\/span> Landry\u2019s journey is one of exploration and refinement, as he immerses himself in the world of book design while nurturing his talents in painting, photography, print-making, paper-making and drawing.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cLearning to be a true artist requires total freedom of expression,\u201d said Landry.<\/span><\/p>\n

Raised on Verona Island, Landry grew up surrounded by the rugged beauty of Maine\u2019s coast. His art reflects deep introspection, navigating the subtle interplay between inner self and outer self and delving into the secrets people keep close and the aspects of their lives that they boldly share with the world.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cGrowing up in a small town made my mind wild with stories and possibilities<\/span>,\u201d said Landry. \u201c<\/span>My art explores those possibilities.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Landry\u2019s first exhibitions were displayed at UMaineMachias, including\u00a0 various student shows and the 2022 fall exhibition \u201cTime: Stories of the Past and Echoes of the Future.\u201d He has shown books such as \u201cKnight in Crying Armor,\u201d and soft sculptures such as \u201c\u6708\u3068\u5f71 – Soft Sculpture Art Dolls.\u201d Not only has his work been shown in UMaine Machias gallery shows, but his skills have been used behind the scenes at the gallery to help curate <\/span>\u201c<\/span><\/i>Works by Alexander Noland\u201d (2024) and \u201cOn Paper\u201d (2024).<\/span><\/p>\n

All of Landry\u2019s skills and experiences have been poured into his upcoming show, \u201cPRODUCE 111,\u201d read as one, one, one.<\/span> As a celebration of his life achievements up until now, this show is homage to his history \u2014 the people who raised him, the music that shaped him and the media that consumed him. It is a projection of his process as an artist and a love letter to his younger self.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe number 111 is a symbol of opportunity, luck and achievement. Angel numbers, like 111, represent more than just a sign that a guardian angel is watching over us; they encourage us to stay present and aware,\u201d said Landry. \u201cBy paying attention to these signs, I recognize the potential for inspiration to emerge unexpectedly.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cMy artistic process is deeply connected to my surroundings. What truly matters is how I navigate the cyclical nature of creation, reflection and rejection.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI aim to cultivate a connection with my creative flow. Some days, I actively create art while other days are reserved for simply observing and listening to my environment. With this show, I want to allow a space for all of my projects to exist in one space at the same time. Having this opportunity generates a sense of a bigger picture \u2014 connecting the dots with all my different disciplines to achieve holism within my work.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
