Updated March 18, 2020

Dear UMM Community, Valued Courtesy Patrons, and Guests,

The safety and well-being of our students, faculty, staff, courtesy patrons, and guests remains our top priority. We understand the concerns related to public gatherings, social interaction and travel during the coronavirus (COVID-19) situation. We want to assure you that we are taking every precaution possible to ensure the highest level of hygiene and will continue to focus on the health and welfare of our students, faculty, staff and local community.

To this end, Merrill Library will be closed to all users effective 8 a.m., March 19 for an indefinite period. We will have reduced staffing in the building and they will be working to provide resources and reference services to the UMS community and others through our Chat service, through Zoom, email, and telephone Monday through Friday 8 am to 5 pm.  Our collection is rich in resources that are online and available 24/7.  We will be exploring other ways we can help users as we get through this crisis.

The 24-hour study room will remain accessible now and going forward to UMM students 24/7 as always. We encourage students to practice the recommended social distancing of 6 feet distance and no more than 10 individuals at one time while in the 24-hour room.

Sincerely,
