Although steps have been taken to prevent the upgrade from installing on UMS IT managed devices, we cannot prevent the install on unmanaged devices.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>What are the known issues with Monterey?<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">No available and tested canon or other printer drivers<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">New Eduroam wireless onboarding failures<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">ESET antivirus software must first be upgraded to version 6.11.1<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Viscosity VPN client requires an upgrade to version 1.10.0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Potential issues with other applications or utilities not listed here.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Once the <\/span><b>Monterey OS<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> issues are resolved, UMS IT will notify users that the upgrade is approved and remove the restrictions that are preventing installation on managed devices.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>When are Mac Operating Systems no longer supported?<\/b><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Apple only provides updates and security patches for the three most recent versions of its operating system. With the release of <\/span><b>Monterey<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, Apple no longer supports updates and security patches to Operating Systems prior to <\/span><b>Catalina (10.15)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Considerations when purchasing a new Mac<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0Please be aware that new Mac\u2019s may arrive with the <\/span><b>Monterey OS<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> (12.0). If your new Mac arrives with <\/span><b>Monterey<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> it cannot be downgraded to a prior OS release as Apple does not provide any means to accomplish an OS downgrade.
