Students are able and encouraged to DJ their own show in which they can spotlight their own musical tastes, or even host a radio talk show. WUMM also encourages UMM faculty and staff and citizens of Washington County to become active in the station. WUMM promotes campus and community organizations and events. When listening to WUMM, you&#8217;ll hear everything from folk to electronica, classic rock to jazz, mystery theater to live broadcasts of Clipper home games and everything in between.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>WUMM&#8217;s History\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Spring of 1997 saw the creation of WUMM with a signal strength of 1-watt and a listening range of just one mile from campus, with the station being located in Kimball Hall.<\/p>\n<p>In 2001, Internet streaming was added, which brought WUMM to anyone with an Internet connection.<\/p>\n<p>In December of 2008, the FCC granted WUMM&#8217;s request to increase to 100-watts, which expanded the listening range to roughly a 10-mile radius around campus.<\/p>\n<p>In early 2015, the station was moved to Torrey Hall due to Kimball Hall being vacated because of structural concerns.<\/p>\n<p>In 2016 the FCC granted WUMM&#8217;s request to expand to 150-watts; this was followed by the construction of a new 50 foot tower and the installations of new bays. WUMM moved once again in October of 2016 with a new home in the Reynolds Center.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Listen to WUMM Over the Internet!<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>WUMM&#8217;s Internet audio stream can be accessed with any media player that supports the shoutcast\/icecast streaming format. Well we are always looking for new shows to add to the station! Shows are voluntary and must first be approved through an application process.
