Every summer, the University of Maine at Machias offers a variety of fun and educational programs and athletic camps for a wide range of ages. Below you will find complete descriptions of programs coming this summer as well as how the registration process works.

Clipper Athletics Camps

The Clipper Athletics Camps are a great way to develop fundamental skills and learn how to compete as a member of a group. Team concepts are emphasized, helping young athletes thrive on and off the field or court. Coaches and members of the UMM Clippers men’s and women’s athletics teams will serve as camp staff.


Girl’s Basketball Day Camp – $195 | June 25-28

For students entering 2nd-12th grades. Check-in for camp will be from 8:45am-9:00am Monday-Thursday at the Reynolds Center Gym, with camp ending at 4:00pm each day. Sessions will go from 9:00am-12:00pm and 1:00pm-4:00pm, with lunch (included in the cost of the camp) from Noon-1:00PM. Students will be grouped together by age and skill level. Campers should bring water bottles and extra socks as well as an extra change of clothes. This camp will be run by Troy Alley, UMM’s Head Basketball Coach & members of UMM’s Men’s & Women’s Basketball Teams. A $50 deposit is required, with the remainder due prior to or at check-in.


Boy’s Basketball Day Camp – $195 | July 9-12

Co-Ed Soccer Day Camp – $195 | July 16-19

For students who are 8-12 years old. Check-in for camp will be from 8:45am-9:00am Monday-Thursday at the Reynolds Center Gym, with camp ending at 4:00pm each day. Sessions will go from 9:00am-12:00pm and 1:00pm-4:00pm, with lunch included in the cost of the camp. Campers should bring water bottles, sunscreen, extra socks as well as an extra change of clothes.This camp will be run by BJ Marshall, UMM’s Women’s Soccer Team Coach & members of UMM’s Men’s & Women’s Soccer Teams. A $50 deposit is required, with the remainder due prior to or at check-in.

A minimum of 15 participants is needed for this camp to run. If this minimum is not reached by July 9, 2018 the camp will be canceled and refunds will be issued.

Maine Academy of Modern Music (MAMM) | July 8-14

Song by song, Maine Academy of Modern Music (MAMM) aspires to provide Maine youth with the discipline, freedom, and guidance to appreciate the thrill of making contemporary music, instilling in them the power of self-expression. MAMM is dedicated to building leadership through the musical arts.

Maine Environmental Summer Session for Youth (MESSY) Day Camp – $195 | July 16-20

For students entering 5th-8th grades. MESSY will run from 9:00am-4:30pm Monday-Friday each day, with lunch included in the cost of the camp. At MESSY, students will engage in hands-on learning that is focused on environmental education, stewardship, and sustainability. Students will have the opportunity to work alongside University of Maine at Machias’ faculty, actively participating in important work in the field and in the classroom. Students will spend time exploring coastal marine life and investigating local streams and forests to create solutions for real-world environmental problems. A $50 deposit is required, with the remainder due prior to or at check-in.

A minimum of 15 participants is needed for this camp to run. If this minimum is not reached by July 9, 2018 the camp will be canceled and refunds will be issued. MESSY has a maximum capacity of 20 participants, so pre-registration is highly encouraged as we may be unable to accommodate walk-in registrations.

 

>>There is limited scholarship money available for students attending MESSY who meet the following requirements:

1. Reside year-round in Washington County.

2. Are 10-19 years old at the time of MESSY.

3. Receive or be primarily under the care of a family that is eligible to receive MaineCare or free and reduced school lunch benefits.
