CANCELED: “Black Girl in Maine”

Sorry to say that we just heard from Shay Stewart-Bouley that she can’t be here next week. This event is postponed until further notice.
Join us for an evening with “Black Girl in Maine,” award-winning local blogger Shay Stewart-Bouley, on Monday, November 5 at 7pm at the University of Maine at Machias. Stewart-Bouley writes about race, culture, motherhood and daily life in New England from the unique perspective of a black woman who was “forcibly relocated” to Maine from her hometown Chicago over a decade ago. Using humor and candor to address serious issues both personal and political, her work is intended to spark conversations about the difficult topics of racial and social justice. Stewart-Bouley was a diversity columnist for the Portland Press Herald for many years, and was recently named one of Maine magazine’s 50 people making a difference in the state.
This event will be held in UMM’s Performing Arts Center. It is free and open to the public.
