{"id":9420,"date":"2020-12-11T11:15:04","date_gmt":"2020-12-11T16:15:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/machias.edu\/academics\/?page_id=9420"},"modified":"2023-10-11T14:04:30","modified_gmt":"2023-10-11T18:04:30","slug":"payments","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/machias.edu\/academics\/student-how-tos\/payments\/","title":{"rendered":"How to Make Online Payments on Your Student Account"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Online payments (electronic check or credit card) can be made through your MaineStreet Student Center.<\/p>\n<p>If you have questions about making student payments, please contact the Bursar&#8217;s Office by email: <a href=\"mailto:ummbilling@maine.edu\">ummbilling@maine.edu<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Need to authorize a parent or someone else to make payments on your behalf?<\/strong> Scroll down to the bottom of this page for instructions.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Making online payments<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h4><strong>ACH (Electronic Check) Payments<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>You can make an ACH (Electronic Check) payment through your Student Center on MaineStreet.\u00a0 An ACH payment must be from a U.S. bank checking or savings account.\u00a0 There is no fee for this service.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Credit Card Payment Option<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Payment with credit card can be made online through your MaineStreet Student Center. Payment may be made with VISA, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express. \u00a0\u00a0Online credit card payment services are provided by TouchNet, an external payment processing company. TouchNet will add a non-refundable convenience fee charge of 2.95% (minimum $3.00) for all credit card payments.\u00a0 Credit card payments cannot be accepted by UM Bursar\u2019s Office staff in person, by mail or over the phone.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>How to Make an Online Payment:<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><em><strong>Please note:<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0<em>If you have been granted access as an authorized user on your student\u2019s account, please\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/secure.touchnet.com\/C22921_tsa\/web\/login.jsp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">log in<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><em>and skip to step #6.<\/em>\u00a0Students should log in to MaineStreet at mainestreet.maine.edu.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>From the MaineStreet portal, click the\u00a0<b>Student Center Tile<\/b>.<\/li>\n<li>In the\u00a0<strong>Finances<\/strong>\u00a0section of the\u00a0<strong>Student Center<\/strong>, an\u00a0<strong>Account Summary<\/strong>\u00a0shows your total charges and deposits due. To view detailed information about your account and to access your Bill+Payment Suite student account, click the\u00a0<strong>View My Bill<\/strong>\u00a0link.<\/li>\n<li>On the\u00a0<strong>Account Summary<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>page<\/strong>, charges and deposits due, if any, will display along with Pending Financial Aid. If you have accounts at multiple institutions, the amounts will display in a separate row for each institution. The total amount due all institutions displays, as well. To access TouchNet\u2019s Bill+Payment Suite, click the\u00a0<strong>View Bill\/Payment Options<\/strong>\u00a0button.<\/li>\n<li>To navigate to TouchNet\u2019s Bill+Payment Suite, select the\u00a0<strong>Access TouchNet Bill+Payment<\/strong>\u00a0button.\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>\n<div><strong>Note:<\/strong> Your browser should transfer you to the TouchNet Bill + Payment system. If your browser takes you to the TouchNet signin\/welcome page, do not attempt to enter your Student Account and PIN. You will need to delete your browser\u2019s cache (temporary internet files), close your browser, and try navigating through MaineStreet again. \u00a0Once you are in MaineStreet you should be able to access TouchNet without signing in again. Also please be aware that MaineStreet uses pop-up technology.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<details open=\"open\">\n<summary>Click here to learn how to disable pop-up blockers on this page<\/summary>\n<p>MaineStreet uses pop-up technology to open a new browser window containing the results of a specific action (such as clicking on a link or a button in your student center or requesting reports). By default, your browser may consider this an unwanted pop-up and automatically block it. Generally, you would want to leave the pop-up blocker enabled and make an exception for the MaineStreet website. The address you would use for the exception is:mainestreetcs.maine.eduMaking an exception may not be an option with some browsers. In this case, you will need to remember to turn the pop-up blocker back on when you have finished your task.<\/p>\n<p>The following links have information about the built-in pop-up blockers for the most commonly used web browsers.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"FireFox popup blocker\" href=\"http:\/\/support.mozilla.com\/en-US\/kb\/Pop-up%20blocker?s=popup&amp;r=0&amp;as=s\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">FireFox<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Internet Explorer popup blocker\" href=\"https:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/en-us\/help\/17479\/windows-internet-explorer-11-change-security-privacy-settings\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Internet Explorer<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Chrome popup blocker\" href=\"http:\/\/www.google.com\/support\/chrome\/bin\/answer.py?answer=95472\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Chrome<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ehow.com\/how_2033317_manage-popups-safari.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Safari<\/a><\/p>\n<\/details>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>In the\u00a0<strong>Current Account Status section<\/strong>, your total balance due at the institution displays. After reviewing your account information, click the\u00a0<strong>Make a Payment<\/strong>\u00a0button to start the payment process.On the\u00a0<strong>Payments<\/strong>\u00a0page, click the\u00a0<strong>Make a Payment<\/strong>\u00a0button and then select a payment.\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Note<\/strong>: To view your account balances on a Term-by-Term basis, select the\u00a0<strong>View Account Activity<\/strong>\u00a0button.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Enter the amount of the payment into the\u00a0<strong>Payment Amount<\/strong>\u00a0field and then click the\u00a0<strong>Continue<\/strong>\u00a0button.<\/li>\n<li>Click on the drop-down arrow in the\u00a0<strong>Payment Method<\/strong>\u00a0field.<\/li>\n<li>Select a method of payment from the drop-down menu then click the\u00a0<strong>Select<\/strong>\u00a0button.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Electronic Check.<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li>Enter the required account information.<\/li>\n<li>To save \u00a0your payment method (optional)\u00a0check the \u201c<label for=\"savePmtMethod\">Save this payment method for future use\u201d box.<\/label><\/li>\n<li>Click the\u00a0<strong>Continue<\/strong>\u00a0button.<\/li>\n<li>Check the \u201cI agree to the above terms and conditions\u201d box.<\/li>\n<li>Click the\u00a0<strong>submit Payment<\/strong>\u00a0button to complete the payment process.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>How to authorize someone else to pay a bill on your behalf<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>In compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA), your student financial records may not be shared with a third party without your written consent. Adding an authorized user in TouchNet\u2019s Bill+Payment Suite is your written consent that an individual may view your account information and make payments on your behalf. The University of Maine will not release information in any other manner without a completed Student Consent to Release Information Form. Please note that authorized users\u00a0<strong>DO NOT<\/strong>\u00a0have access to your stored payment methods, academic records, or other personal information. Follow the instruction below to establish a parent or other person as an authorized user to view and\/or pay your University of Maine System student account.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>After logging into the MaineStreet portal, click the\u00a0<b>Student Center Tile<\/b>.<\/li>\n<li>Under\u00a0<b>My Account\u00a0<\/b>in the Finances section, click on the\u00a0<b>View My Bill link<\/b>.<\/li>\n<li>To access TouchNet\u2019s Bill+Payment suite, click the\u00a0<b>VIEW BILL\/PAYMENT OPTIONS\u00a0<\/b>button.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Click the\u00a0<b>Access TouchNet Bill+Payment\u00a0<\/b>button.\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Note:<\/strong>\u00a0MaineStreet uses pop-up technology.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/umaine.edu\/bursar\/pop-up-blockers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">How to Disable Pop-Up Blockers<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Select\u00a0<b>Authorized Users\u00a0<\/b>from the menu options at the top of the page.<\/li>\n<li>If you have already added one or more authorized users, you may update settings or delete on this page. Click on the\u00a0<b>Add Authorized User\u00a0<\/b>section. Enter the e-mail address of the new Authorized User.<\/li>\n<li>Choose\u00a0<b>Yes\u00a0<\/b>or\u00a0<b>No\u00a0<\/b>on both of the access options.\n<ul>\n<li><b>Billing Statement Access:\u00a0<\/b><strong><em>Would you like to allow this person to view your billing statement?<\/em><\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>If you select \u201cNo\u201d, the authorized user will be able to view only the current balance, but will not see your billing statements.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><b>Payment History Access:\u00a0<\/b><em><strong>Would you like to allow this person to view your payment history?<\/strong><\/em>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0If you select \u201cNo\u201d, the Payment History tab will show only payments the authorized user has made.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0If you select \u201cNo\u201d for both options, the authorized user will only be able to process payments on your account<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0After carefully reading the agreement for authorizing a user, click the<b>\u00a0I Agree\u00a0<\/b>box.<\/li>\n<li>Click the\u00a0<b>Continue\u00a0<\/b>button.<\/li>\n<li>After you add the \u00a0authorized a user, they will receive an e-mail notification along with instructions for logging into their Bill+Pay account.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h4><a href=\"https:\/\/machias.edu\/academics\/student-how-tos\/\"><strong>Return to Student How-To&#8217;s menu<\/strong><\/a><\/h4>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Online payments (electronic check or credit card) can be made through your MaineStreet Student Center.
