UMM to Host Legislative Candidates Forum on October 18
MACHIAS, Maine – The University of Maine at Machias will hold a legislative candidates forum at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 18 in the Portside room of Kimball Hall. Candidates on the ballot for State House Districts 30, 32, and 33 and State Senate District 29 have been invited to participate in the forum.
Candidates for the House seats include Republican Lawrence Lockman and Democrat Dennis Mahar in District 30, Democrat Katherine Cassidy and Republican Michael Radeka in District 32, and Republican Peter Doak and Democrat Lawrence Finnegan in District 33.
Candidates for the District 29 State Senate seat include Republican David Burns, Democrat Anne Perry, and Independent James Whalen.
Jon Reisman, associate professor of economics and public policy, and Tora Johnson, instructor of geographic information systems, will moderate the forum.
The forum will be streamed live on the Internet at www.machias.edu/umm-live and will include an opportunity for questions from the in-person audience and those using the Twitter hashtag #UMMLive.
