UMM to Host Education Policy Speakers
Machias, ME - The University of Maine at Machias will be hosting several education policy speakers this fall in recognition of the teacher education roots of the institution as it approaches its centennial next year.
The first speaker will be Mr. Stephen Bowen, the director of the Center for Education Excellence at The Maine Heritage Policy Center. Bowen will speak on school choice and education reform efforts on Thursday October 2nd at 6:30 PM in Portside. A public question and answer discussion session will follow his talk.
Bowen taught in Middle and High Schools for ten years before joining The Maine Heritage Policy Center in 2007. In 2002, he was elected to the first of two terms in the Maine House of Representatives, representing Camden and Rockport. He has a B.A. in Political Science from Drew University and a Masters of Education from George Mason University.
