UMM to Host Community Health Fair March 22
MACHIAS, Maine – The University of Maine at Machias will host a community health fair from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 22, in the Reynolds Center Gymnasium. The fair is free and open to the public.
The event is being coordinated by the UMM Wellness Committee in an effort to educate the campus and local community on the importance of living a healthy lifestyle. The fair will highlight community organizations and businesses that promote good health, provide fitness demonstrations, and encourage people to think proactively about their health.
Drawings will be held throughout the afternoon for a variety of prizes, including: two one-month passes to the Fitness Center, gift certificates to local restaurants, exercise videos, hand weights, water bottles, pedometers, insulated lunch bags, and t-shirts.
Organizations scheduled to exhibit or provide demonstrations, include: ADS Healthcare, Aramark Dining Services, the Fitness Center, Cigna Employee Assistance Program, Downeast Health Services, Down East Community Hospital, Flaherty Early Childcare and Education Center, Machias Dental, Maine Centers for Disease Control, Regional Medical Center – Lubec, the Next Step Domestic Violence Project, Tide Mill Farms, Washington County: One Community, Whole Life Market, UMM Student Support Center, and UMM Health Services.
The UMM Wellness Committee is comprised of students, faculty, and staff members committed to enhancing wellness opportunities and education to the campus community.
