UMM Theatre to Present "An Evening with Theresa Rebeck"
Machias, ME - The University of Maine at Machias will present "An Evening with Theresa Rebeck" Oct. 23-25 at 7:00 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center. Associate Professor of Theater Arthur Hill will direct 11 UMM students and one community actor in 8 short plays by Pulitzer Prize nominated playwright, Theresa Rebeck. "Rebeck is one of America's leading women playwrights," said Hill. "She has the courage to tackle hard subjects and the artistic honesty to 'hold the mirror to nature.' These plays provide us as an audience with perspective and insight into ourselves as individuals and as a society and they cover a wide range of social issues that confront our society now." The plays feature adult material that may make some people uncomfortable.
UMM's production of "An Evening with Theresa Rebeck" features the acting talents of community actor Melanie Colbeth and students Adam Brown, Crystal Czaja, Matt Ganong, Dan Rolfe, Jackie Rushley, Hannah Siebenhaur, Dorian Knight, Megan Lanpher, Melissa O'Brien, Joshua Luman, and Sam Tananbaum.
The plays will be presented at the UMM Performing Arts Center on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, October 23, 24, 25 at 7:00 p.m. Tickets may be purchased at the door, and are $5 for adults, $3 for seniors, and free for UMM students.
