Students in the University of Maine at Machias Mammalogy and Animal Physiology classes worked in the field tagging, weighing and inspecting a mother black bear and cubs this week at a remote location. They were invited by Maine Inland Fisheries and Wildlife bear field crew leader Randy Cross. The hibernating bears werer sedated for the inspection. This is what UMM is all about – research in the field!
