Scandinavia Trip Info Session
Location: 230 Torrey Hall
MACHIAS, Maine —The University of Maine at Machias has announced plans for an eight-day trip to the Scandinavian region of Europe in spring 2015. The trip, open to both students and community members, will run March 30 through April 6, 2015.
The trip will include tours around Sweden and Denmark. Many famous landmarks and attractions will be visited, including the Swedish Parliament, Stortorget Main Square, Swedish House of Lords, Vasa Ship Museum, National Museum of Copenhagen, Rosenborg Castle, and many others.
Information sessions about the trip are scheduled for 6 p.m. on Wednesday, February 12, and 6 p.m. on Monday, March 3. Both sessions will be held in Torrey Hall, room 230.
While the University has organized past trips to destinations that include Italy, Amsterdam, Paris, and Russia, this marks the first time a UMM group has traveled to Sweden and Denmark. The trip will be a private tour flying out of Bangor.
To prepare for the trip, all travelers will meet a number of times as a group and discuss travel plans, cultural expectations, and other essentials. With additional work and planning, students may take the trip to earn college credit.
More information about the trip, including the tour itinerary and cost, can be found at www.explorica.com/Kimball-5820.
The tour fee includes round-trip airfare, ground transportation, all meals, cost of the full-time tour director, entrance fee for local attractions, and hotel stays. Organizers encourage anyone interested in the trip to register as soon as possible. There is a $150 discount available for early registrations, and an additional $100 discount is available to individuals who have traveled on an Explorica trip before.
