UMM Announces New Staff Members
Luis "Tito" Arias
MACHIAS, Maine – The University of Maine at Machias has hired several new staff members for the fall semester.
Luis “Tito” Arias has been named an admissions counselor and head men’s basketball coach. Arias comes to UMM from the College of Central Florida where he served as assistant men’s basketball coach. He received his bachelor’s degree in recreation and tourism management from UMM.
Holly Bouma has been hired as the resident director for Dorward Hall. She comes to UMM from Longwood, Florida, where she was a marketing and special projects coordinator at MiLanguages. Bouma holds a master’s degree in sociology from Central European University and a bachelor’s degree in Spanish from the University of Rochester.
Nichole Cote has been hired as a student success advisor in the Advising Center. Prior to this position, Cote served as UMM’s associate director of student life. She holds a master’s degree in higher education from the University of Maine and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Maine at Presque Isle.
Leigh Ann Garstecki has been named fitness coordinator at the Fitness Center. Garstecki comes to UMM from Monona, Wisconsin, where she owned and operated her own fitness consulting business. She holds a master’s degree in physical education from Eastern Kentucky University and a bachelor’s degree in dietetics from the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
Jo-Ellen Scribner has been named special services coordinator. Harvey served temporarily in the position during the recent spring semester, and before that was an administrative assistant in the UMM First Stop. She is also a part-time instructor in the environmental recreation and tourism management program. Harvey holds a bachelor’s degree in recreation management from UMM.
Christopher Zukas has joined the University as the director of campus activities. Zukas comes to UMM from Niagara University, where he received his bachelor’s degree in marketing.
