Ukulele Master Lil' Rev to Perform at UMM on November 16
MACHIAS, Maine – Ukulele master Lil’ Rev will bring his award-willing talent to the University of Maine at Machias at 7 p.m. on Friday, November 16 as the last act in the Off the Edge of the Sea music series. The series has featured concerts and learning engagements in the performing arts during November.
Lil’ Rev, a native of Wisconsin, is a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and music-historian. He currently writes instructional books for Hal Leonard Publishing, presents clinics all over the U.S., and tours internationally as a performer of time honored classics and original songs. He was inducted into the Traditional Old-Time Country Music Hall of Fame in 2003.
Earlier in the day at noon, Lil’ Rev will present a workshop on “Essential Strums, Strokes, and Tricks for Ukulele.” The class is open to all levels and is a virtual smorgasbord of tools for the ukulele player to use for improving his or her skills. The free workshop will take place in Portside, Kimball Hall and advance registration is requested by calling 255-1370.
Tickets to the 7 p.m. concert are $10 each, $15 for a couple, free for UMM students, and $3 for non-UMM students. Tickets will be available at the door or in advance by calling 255-1370. The concert will take place in Portside, Kimball Hall.
