I graduated from UMaine Orono with a B.S. in Bacteriology, spent the next several decades working at a variety of jobs including food science technician, high school biology and general science teacher, pediatrician’s assistant, nursery school teacher, fiber farmer and spinner/knitter, wife, mother, and 24-years as an adult educator serving as an instructor and administrator in the greater Machias area. At UMM I am responsible for overseeing the Study Center and Student Tutor program as well as serving as the Adult/Distance Learner Advisor. Literacy has been an important part of my life, bot the love of reading and working with adults who are working to better their skills. As a member of the State of Maine’s Literacy Team (Literacy for ME) and a member of the board of directors for Literacy Volunteers of Washington County, I have been able to follow my interest. Having spent much time learning about how people learn and discovering the potential that technology brings to learning, I am delighted to be able to combine those interests and any expertise I have gathered over the years to my work with students at UMM.
