Four Clippers Named Conference Players of the Week
Four University of Maine at Machias student-athletes have been named Sunrise Conference Players of the Week:
Women’s Soccer
Offensive Player of the Week – Erin O’Connor (Jr., Midfield, University of Maine at Machias)
O’Connor is honored for the second time this season. The junior midfielder from McPherson, Kansas scored three goals and assisted on two others leading the Clippers to an 8-1 win over Vermont Technical College.
Defensive Player of the Week – Sarah Schmidt (Jr., Defense, University of Maine at Machias)
Schmidt receives the award for the first time this year. The junior defender from Rocky Hill, Conn. held Vermont Tech to just one goal and seven shots in an 8-1 Clippers’ win.
Men’s Soccer
Offensive Player of the Week – Stefan Zalucky (Fr., Forward, University of Maine at Machias)
Zalucky receives the award for the first time this year after registering seven points in two games. The freshman forward from Konstancin-Jeziorna, Poland scored three goals for a hat trick in a 5-0 win over the College of St. Joseph. Zalucky also had an assist in a 3-1 win over Vermont Tech.
Men’s Cross Country
Runner of the Week – Seth Bilquin (So., University of Maine at Machias)
Bilquin is honored for the first time this year after a solid showing in the Maine State Championships. The sophomore from New Fairfield, Conn. recorded a personal record time of 30:43, nearly a minute faster than his previous best, to finish in 100th place out of 149 runners.
