The Maine Department of Marine Resources Biotoxin Program is seeking to fill a paid seasonal position from April to September 2012. This position is based out of Lamoine, ME with coastal field work from Castine to Eastport. Start and end dates are flexible, early spring start date is desired. Hours range between 30 - 40+ hours a week.
Desired Qualifications:
- You must have a valid driver’s license and good driving record.
- Lab experience using graduated cylinders, pipettes, balances, hotplates, centrifuge, microscope, animal care etc.
- Testing includes a mouse bioassay. Must be ok with handling lab mice.
- Ability to pay attention to detail, recordkeeping, and neat handwriting.
- Field experience digging clams, collecting mussels.
- Knowledge of the Maine coast, tides, and map reading.
- A good attitude, willingness to work odd hours including early mornings, willing to work in adverse weather conditions, ability to work with little or no supervision, and a desire to pursue a career in marine science.
