UMM offers courses and supervised student teaching opportunities leading to the State of Maine K-12 Teacher of Children with Disabilities (282) endorsement throughout the Maine and beyond via online course delivery.  Click here for the full details.

Geographic Information Systems Certificate

UMM offers GIS courses in a hybrid format, blending the convenience of online learning with the support of face-to-face interaction with college faculty.  Update your skills with GIS; this new technology for data mapping and problem-solving is now commonly used in government, education, and private sector jobs.

Business & Entrepreneurship Skills:

Entrepreneurship Certificate Program

The Entrepreneurship Certificate Program offers students a flexible opportunity to acquire, develop and demonstrate business and risk management skills. The certificate program requires 18 credit hours (6 courses), consisting of five (5) required courses and one (1) elective from ACC, BUS, MAN, MAR or a non-business elective approved by the business faculty. Such an elective should be related to entrepreneurship.

The required courses are:

  • MAR101     Marketing and Entrepreneurship
  • MAR306    Marketing Management for Entrepreneurs
  • MAN302    Small Business Management for Entrepreneurs
  • MAN406    Entrepreneurship

All 5 required courses will be available at a distance, via the web or polycom. Many potential electives will be available at a distance.

 

Human Resource Management Certificate Program

The Human Resource Management Certificate Program offers students a flexible opportunity to acquire, develop and demonstrate a variety of personnel management skills related to the broad spectrum of the Human Resource function within their organizations. The certificate program requires 18 credit hours (6 courses), consisting of five (5) required courses and one (1) elective of the student’s choice listed below.

The required courses are:

  • MAN301   Management
  • MAN332   Human Resource Management
  • BUS325    Business Ethics and Social Responsibility
  • BUS324    Labor Relations Management
  • MAN315   Negotiations

Choose one of the following:

  • BUS332   Leadership 
  • MAN303  Project Management
  • MAN313    Managerial Decision Making
  • MAN318 Human Behavior in Organizations

All courses will be available at a distance, via the web or polycom. The student can complete this certificate program in as little as 12 months.

Students must satisfy the UMM residency requirement for certificate programs, currently at 12 credit hours.

Marketing Certificate Program

The Marketing Certificate Program offers students a flexible opportunity to acquire, develop and demonstrate a variety of marketing skills related to the broad spectrum of the Marketing function within their organizations. The certificate program requires 18 credit hours (6 courses), consisting of five (5) required courses and one (1) elective of the student’s choice listed below.

The required courses are:

  • MAR323     Personal Selling
  • MAR324     Consumer Behavior
  • MAR306    Marketing Management
