  Volunteer Tax Preparer: (become an IRS-certified tax preparer at no cost to you!) Attend training sessions; take the self-paced IRS online training program to become an IRS-certified tax preparer (about 6-12 hours of training). Prepare basic tax returns for low- to moderate-income taxpayers during tax season. Work under the supervision of the VITA Site Coordinator. Qualifications: Interest in learning how to prepare taxes and helping neighbors. Anyone can take the course, not only business/accounting majors.
  Asset Coach/Greeter: Attend training session. Greet taxpayers and help them fill out a two-sided intake form. Inform them about community resources (heat assistance, job searching, etc.), asset development (home-buying courses, matcing savings accounts), and financial management (budget classes and consumer credit counseling). Work under the supervision of the VITA Site Coordinator. Optional: Take the IRS online asset coach training (3-6 hours). Qualifications: Interest in helping neighbors access community resources.
