UMM to Host Energy Audit Event at O'Brien House on Dec. 11

Greening the O'Brien House logoMACHIAS, ME – The University of Maine at Machias invites the public to an energy audit of the O’Brien House on Friday, December 11 at 1:00 p.m. Representatives from HeatKeepers, a division of R.H. Foster Energy, will be available to answer questions about heating systems while performing an energy audit of the early nineteenth-century home.

Friday’s energy audit begins the process of Greening the O’Brien House, a three-year initiative that will transform the historic home of the University’s president into a twenty-first-century showcase home for sustainability. The project will focus on updating the heating, electrical, and roofing systems of the building, while teaching students and community members how to renovate an old home with practical, economical steps toward energy efficiency and sustainability.

For more information about the energy audit, please contact Bob Farris at 255-1316.
