Nov. 11 Jam Session at UMM in Memory of Washington County Musicians
MACHIAS, Maine – The Interdisciplinary Fine Arts program at the University of Maine at Machias will host a memorial Pajama Jam at 10 p.m. on Friday, November 11 in the Performing Arts Center. The event is a tribute to late Washington County musicians Johnny Johnson of Calais and Ian Parker of Machias.

UMM to Host Veterans Day Reception on Nov. 11
MACHIAS, Maine – The University of Maine at Machias, along with Aramark Dining Services and the Student Senate, will host a Veterans Day Reception at 4 p.m. on Friday, November 11 in the Portside room of Kimball Hall.

Annual Boston Museum of Fine Arts Trip, Nov. 5-6
UMM student organizations The Binnacle and Araby (the Dead Poets Society) are sponsoring their annual trip to Boston on Saturday, November 5, and Sunday, November 6. The two main stops will be Walden Pond in Concord, Massachusetts, and The Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.

Robinson Ballet to Perform "The Nutcracker" Nov. 19
MACHIAS, Maine – The Robinson Ballet Company of Bangor will bring Tchaikovsky’s beloved holiday classic, The Nutcracker to Downeast Maine with a pair of performances on Saturday, November 19 at the University of Maine at Machias.

CNN Hero Wynona Ward to Speak on Domestic Violence at UMM Talk
MACHIAS, Maine – The University of Maine at Machias will host CNN Hero and domestic violence road warrior Wynona Ward on Monday, October 24 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Portside room of Kimball Hall. Her talk, “Beyond Awareness: Community Response to Domestic Violence,” is free and open to the public.

Maine Writers Series to Host Poetry Reading on Oct. 11
MACHIAS, Maine – The Maine Writers Series at the University of Maine at Machias will host local poets Leonore Hildebrandt and Richard Miles for a poetry reading at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, October 11. The event, titled “Handmade Poetry: A Reading and Reception,” will take place in UMM’s Book Arts Studio, located in Dorward Hall.
